★ 1830s BUM ROLL ★

Worn atop the chemise and corset, but below the petticoats and skirts, the bum roll provided the elegant bell-shaped silhouette. The visual contrast between the shoulders and hips and the waist was created using a bum roll.

Each piece is made carefully, by me, in my studio, using sustainable materials and methods wherever possible. A single layer of linen, the bum roll is stuffed with natural fabric scraps accrued from my hours creating other like garments, giving the piece weight, shape and density; perfect for supporting your beautiful gowns.

★ DETAILS ★

SIZE: 35cm x 25cm x 10cm with a 2 metre waist tie from end to end.

MATERIALS:

  • 100% Natural linen for the body
  • 100% cotton twill tape for the tie
  • Stuffed with scrap fabric from my studio, ensuring its composition is natural wherever possible. You're helping to keep fabric out of landfills!
  • Made in the UK
  • Weight: 400g

Based on the historical underpinnings of the 1830s Pattern drafted by Mandy Barrington's "Below the Waist"

★ HOW TO WEAR ★

  • Start in your chemise and corset
  • Tie the bum roll around your hip, ensuring the OW monogram embroidery is centred with your spine
  • Layer the rest of your clothing on top!
  • Enjoy frolicking around in period-adequate 1830s undergarments

No two articles I make are exactly the same. This is a historically inspired piece, made using a combination of historical and modern techniques. Please allow for small variations in size, shape and colour.

This listing is for the bum roll only. The chemise and mannequin are not included.

Thank you for supporting my dream of owning a slow fashion, handmade historical undergarments business.
